Stormlight
The Stormlight Shawl is a petite yet striking wrap, designed to drape gracefully over your shoulders like the first light breaking through storm clouds. Knitted sideways with German short rows, this shawl features a construction where all color changes happen at the neck edge, creating a crisp, polished outer border. The shawl can be worn either side up.
Materials:
-
Needles: 3.5mm (US 4) circular needle
-
Yarn:
-
Main Color (MC): 1 skein Malabrigo Metamorphosis Sock (100g/440yds) - Shown in "London Fog"
-
Contrast Color (CC): 35g of solid/semi-solid fingering weight (e.g., bright orange for pop)
-
Yarn Note:
This pattern is meticulously designed to use nearly every yard of your MC skein! In testing, I completed 11 full stripes but ran out of yarn at the very end of the 12th! Make sure to have a few extra yards (really just a few) of matching color to finish it.
Gauge: 22 sts x 28 rows = 10cm (4")
Finished measurements: With 12 stripes, the shawl is 150 cm wingspan (from black corner), drops 35 cm after blocking. The height is fixed, but you can knit any number of stripes if you like.
