These stranded colorwork socks are as fun to knit as they are to wear! The bird and vine motif flows all the way around - and thanks to the afterthought stranded heel, the pattern stays completely seamless and uninterrupted, even across the heel. No short rows, no wraps, just smooth knitting in the round from start to finish.
This sock pattern complement Titbirds on the Vine mittens.
Skill level: Experienced - this pattern is designed for knitters who are comfortable with stranded colorwork.
Sizes: Three foot sizes - US shoe size 6-7, 7-8, and 8-9. The smallest size comes in two leg lengths too. The width is fixed at 68 sts (size 6-7) and 72 sts (sizes 7-8 and 8-9), which fits a leg circumference of about 20–21 cm - though you can easily adjust the stitch count for a wider fit.
Materials:
- Yarn: Fingering weight (400m/100g), 2 contrasting colors. You'll need up to 100g/400m of each color for the largest size. For the shorter leg version in size 6–7 (as pictured), 50g of each color is plenty.
- Needles: 2.25-2.5mm, or whatever size gets you gauge
- Gauge: 35 sts × 35 rows = 10cm (4") in stranded colorwork, worked in the round
