Sunshine
This shawl is worked in two steps.
The main part of it is a wide zigzag panel, which is worked sideways.
The stitches for the shawl center are picked up along the top edge of zigzag stripe.
Techniques used - decreases, increases, short rows, and garter. You must be comfortable with all of the above to knit it.
You will need:
Long circular needles US size 5 or 6
(4mm or more), and fingering- or
sport-weight yarn in three colors,
A, B and C:
- A – the color of the sun (star);
shown yellow. Must be solid.
You will need 440 m.
- B – the color of the sky; shown blue.
Color B can be variegated; you will need 440 m.
- color C – small rays at the outer edge.
You can use gradient, speckled, or variegated yarn for that.
You will need 240 meters.
Gauge: one repeat is about 8cm wide blocked, with fingering-weight yarn. Finished size is about 160cm wide, drops 65-70 cm.
